Liverpool Reject Manchester City’s £25m Bid For Sterling

The Citizens made the audacious offer for the 20-year-old, who has rejected a new £100,000-a-week deal at Anfield, earlier today.

However, they have had their approach for the England international - who has courted interest from Manchester United and Arsenal - rejected by the Merseysiders, who believe the winger is worth at least £50m.

Starsport understands City's opening bid for Sterling - who is keen to leave Anfield this summer - also includes £5m in add-ons.

Liverpool's decision to reject City's approach for their contract rebel reiterates the club's eagerness to retain the midfielder's services.

Reds chief Brendan Rodgers has stated he has no desire to cash in on the coveted youngster.
And last month, the former Swansea chief revealed that he expects to see the Kop star to be at Anfield next season.

The Northern Irishman said: "For me it's very clear. Raheem, whether there are talks or no talks, has two years left and I expect him to see that through.

"I don't see Raheem unhappy.

"He's a young boy who's developed well over the last three seasons and we hope that development will continue here."
