AFCON: He’s quiet, doing great work – Oliseh singles out Super Eagles star

Former Nigeria coach, Sunday Oliseh has singled out Super Eagles star, Semi Ajayi for praise amid the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Ivory Coast.

Oliseh said Ajayi has been quiet, but doing great work for the Super Eagles at the back.

Ajayi is the only player in the Super Eagles squad to have played every single minute for Jose Peseiro’s side at the 2023 AFCON.

The West Brom star helped them post four consecutive clean sheets.

Speaking to Channels Sports on Sunday, Oliseh said: “People are forgetting that Ajayi is doing a great work at the back. The man is quiet but he’s doing his job.

“What we are doing so well is the compactness and the players in the midfield, the central defensive midfielders that are winning the ball are making it impossible for the opponents to attack our central defence.

“These are players that are really helping Nigerians to excel.”

Ajayi is expected to feature for Nigeria when they face South Africa in the semi-final tie on Wednesday.
